Choosing Your Print Size
Resolution vs. size
Changing the output resolution (with resampling turned OFF) is how you control the size of your print:
As the output resolution gets smaller, the print size gets bigger.
For a hypothetical 900 by 900 pixel image (less than 1 megapixel):
Output Resolution
Print Size
900 ppi
1 inch by one inch
300 ppi
3 inches by 3 inches
250 ppi
3.6 inches by 3.6 inches
100 ppi
9 inches by 9 inches
200-240 ppi is the minimum for photographic printing.
