Output Resolution

Pixels per inch

Adobe Photoshop dialog box: Output resolution with resampling ON

There are two ways to adjust output resolution:

Without resampling
This means you are keeping the height and width of the image in pixels the same but making it print out at a different physical size (inches, centimeters, etc.).

Useful for chosing print size.

With resampling
This means you are changing the number of actual pixels in the image file.

Useful for resizing image files for the web.

REMEMBER: Changing resolution with resampling ON will change the image file on your hard drive. Having resampling turned OFF prevents any changes being made to your file!
