When is a Pixel Not a Pixel?
Digital cameras' definition of "pixel"
Remember earlier when we noted that "pixel" has a slightly different meaning in a digital camera than in a computer?
Representation of a digital camera's sensor:
(This is not what a CCD actually looks like.)
• Each CCD pixel is sensitive only to light of one color; red, green or blue.
• Each pixel can record different intensities of light, but only for one color.
• This arrangement is called a Bayer matrix.
